International Political Sociology meets Global Health: Insights, Challenges, and Future Topics
21 November 2025, 2:00 – 3:00 pm via Zoom (details below; please register in advance via Katharina Krause (kat.krause@uni-tuebingen.de))
The German IPS working group is hosting an online event with Stefan Elbe.
Stefan Elbe is Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex where he has served as Head of the International Relations Department and as Director of Research for the School of Global Studies. Stefan has published widely on topics of, inter alia, global health security, viral sovereignty, and global health governance. He also hosted the Center for Global Health Policy Research Café.
Stefan and Katharina will talk about Stefan’s current research and discuss the place and potential of global health in International Political Sociology, Stefan’s perspective on the IPS field from a global health point of view, and his advice for early-career scholars interested in global health and/or IPS.
There will be plenty of time for an engaging Q&A session and we look forward to a lively debate about questions such as: What can a curiosity about global health add to conceptual debates in IPS? What insights can IPS offer to the field of global health? What is the current state and future prospect of global health in and beyond IPS-debates?
We invite you to join the session via the below link, please register with Katharina (kat.krauseuni-tuebingende) in advance.
